The Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributors (VAWD) accreditation is for facilities engaged in the act of wholesale drug distribution. To become VAWD-accredited and display the VAWD Seal, facilities must undergo a criteria compliance review, which includes: a rigorous review of their operating policies and procedures; licensure verification; a survey of a facility’s operations; and screening through the NABP clearinghouse. The accreditation is in process for all of our warehouses and we have an extension from various insurance companies (OptumRx) to continue serving our valuable customers.
Likewise various insurance companies have made it mandatory for pharmacies to buy diabetic test strips from authorized wholesalers only to claim for reimbursement. In order to remain in complaince with all the insurance companies and to make sure that our customers are able to duly claim for reimbursements on test strips, we now are authorized wholesalers with all the leading diabetic test strips manufacturers.
The State of California passed a bill on July 31, 2017 amending sections 4057, 4081, and 4301 of, and to add Sections 4025.2, 4084.1, and 4160.5 to, the Business and Professions Code, relating to pharmacy, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately. This bill would make it unprofessional conduct for a licensee to acquire a nonprescription diabetes test device from a person that the licensee knew or should have known was not the nonprescription diabetes test device’s manufacturer or manufacturer’s authorized distributor or to submit to specified persons a claim for reimbursement for a nonprescription diabetes test device when the licensee knew or should have known that the diabetes test device was not purchased directly from the manufacturer or from a manufacturer’s authorized distributor.
